This painting is inspired by a funny and entertaining Netflix documentary I saw recently called “Penguin Town”. The docu-series focuses on the African penguins nicknamed “jackass penguins” which flock together to Simon’s Town (South Africa) to find mates, nest on the beaches & in the gardens of the town (truly!), and casually mix with the locals. This happens around winter time in Europe (December, January) - hence the penguins who celebrate Christmas.
